Solar panels for businesses that use power in the day
Solar makes electricity in daylight, so it suits businesses that use a lot of power during the working day. These are the kinds of site we arrange surveys for.
Factories and manufacturing
Machinery that runs through the working day uses power when solar makes it.
Warehouses and logistics
Large, often flat roofs, with lighting, chillers and charging on site.
Farms
Barns, sheds and spare land, with dairies, drying and cold stores to power.
Offices
Daytime occupancy, with lighting, computers, heating and cooling.
Retail
Shops and retail units open in daylight hours, often with chillers or freezers.
Hospitality
Hotels, pubs, restaurants and venues with kitchens, laundry and long opening hours.
What is a free commercial solar survey?
A site survey is a visit by a solar installer to see whether your building or land can take solar panels, and what size of system makes sense for the business.
The installer looks at the roof or land, any shading, the electricity supply and meter, and how the business uses power through the day. From that they design a system and give you a written proposal with their price. You can take your time over it, ask questions and decide whether to go ahead.
We arrange the survey: Solar Surveys UK does not install panels itself. The installer you are matched with does the survey, the design and, if you go ahead, the installation.
What we check before the survey
A short call first means the installer only visits sites that can genuinely take solar. We ask about four things.
Ownership or landlord consent
Panels are fixed to the building or land, so we check you own it, or that you rent it and your landlord is willing to agree to an installation.
Your energy spend
Roughly what the business spends on electricity each month, and when it uses most of it. A recent bill or half-hourly data from your supplier helps the installer size the system properly.
Roof or land
Whether there is a roof in reasonable condition, or spare land, with room for panels. The installer checks the detail, such as the roof's structure, shading and access, at the survey.
Your electricity supply
The supply and meter the site has now. Larger systems need the local network operator's approval before they connect, which the installer usually applies for.
How it works
Four steps from a short call to a survey at your site.

Fill in the short form below. A member of our UK team calls you to ask about the site and how the business uses electricity.
- 2
We check it's a fit
We go through the checks above with you, so nobody's time is wasted on a site that cannot take solar.
- 3
Matched with one installer
We match your site with one MCS certified installer that covers your area and the size of job.
- 4
Your free site survey
The installer visits at a time that suits you, looks at the site and gives you their proposal. Whether you go ahead is up to you.
What it costs your business
The survey is free. Your business pays nothing for the call or the site survey, and there is no obligation to go ahead. If you choose to install, you agree the price and terms directly with the installer.
We don't quote savings or prices on this page, because they depend on your site: how much electricity you use in daylight, your roof or land, and the system. The installer works them out from your own figures.
Commercial solar survey FAQs
Is the commercial solar survey really free?
Yes. The site survey costs your business nothing and there is no obligation to go ahead. If you decide to install, you agree the price and terms directly with the installer.
Who carries out the survey?
One MCS certified installer that we match with your site, based on where you are and the size of the job. Your contact details go only to that installer, so you won't be called by lots of companies.
Do you install the solar panels?
No. Solar Surveys UK arranges the survey. The installer we match you with surveys the site, designs the system, quotes and, if you go ahead, installs it.
We rent our building. Can we still have solar?
Often, yes, but your landlord needs to agree to an installation. We ask about this on the call so it can be raised early, before the survey.
What should we have ready for the survey?
A recent electricity bill, and half-hourly data if your supplier provides it, plus access to the roof or land and to where the electricity supply comes into the building.
How much could solar save my business?
It depends on your site: how much electricity the business uses in daylight, the roof or land, and what the system costs. The installer works it out from your own figures at the survey. We don't quote savings before then.
Which businesses do you work with?
Businesses across the UK, including factories, warehouses, farms, offices, retail and hospitality. The site needs a suitable roof or land and you need to own it or have your landlord's agreement.
